The 3-day 2009 International Garment Expo in Hebei, along with the first Handan (Cixian) Children's Wear Festival, kicked off on November 20 in Handan. This marked a significant milestone as it was the inaugural event of its kind in both Handan and Hebei Province, drawing widespread attention from industry professionals and media alike. Organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hebei Branch, Cixian County People's Government, Handan City Bureau of Commerce, and Handan CCPIT, the festival was supported by the Handan Municipal People’s Government and featured participation from key figures in the textile industry.
At the opening ceremony, Chen Shumin, Vice Chairman of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, joined local officials to tour the exhibition booths. Notably, Chen Shujin engaged with exhibitors from Cixian County, including brands like Sixianhua and Yipin Prince, encouraging them to focus on brand development and leverage their unique strengths to elevate the profile of Cixian children's wear. He also showed particular interest in the locally made cloth and handicrafts displayed at Cixian’s booth, asking about production methods and sales performance, and expressed strong support for the county’s specialty products.
Cixian aims to build a strong brand identity through this event, expand its garment industry, enhance product quality, and promote the city’s image while boosting foreign trade. According to reports, this was the first time many local apparel companies in Handan and Cixian participated in such an exhibition, and they all praised the event as a great opportunity to showcase their work nationally and internationally.
Over three days, the expo featured a variety of activities, including project promotions, fashion shows, forums, and model performances. The event covered 20,000 square meters, with 480 standard and 46 special exhibition booths. More than 600 exhibitors and 6,000 buyers attended, and the total investment reached nearly 1.4 billion RMB. International brands such as Yalu, Rubin, Snow Flying, Valentino, Kangaroo, Apple, and Norcross were among the participants, highlighting the global reach of the event.
In his speech, Deputy Secretary Jianhui of Handan emphasized that the expo aimed to create a high-level platform for exchange and cooperation in the garment industry, bringing together the latest trends, advanced technologies, and innovative designs. He believed the event would significantly boost the development of the industry in the region.
As a leading force in the children's wear sector, Cixian has driven growth across production, processing, branding, and marketing. The county has been recognized as a "National Textile Industry Cluster Pilot Area" by the China Textile Industry Association and was awarded the title of "China's Children's Wear Processing City." It is also designated as a "Sentinel Monitoring Unit" by the China Textile and Apparel Market Alliance, indicating its importance in the national textile market.
With the current shift of eastern and southern garment industries toward central and western regions, Cixian is seizing the opportunity to leverage its existing industrial base, technological capabilities, and market advantages. The goal is to integrate resources effectively and drive the development of a new industrial model, promoting sustainable business transformation and growth.
