In the second quarter of 2011, global fabric production decreased year-on-year

The International Textile Manufacturers Union (ITMF) released the second quarter of 2011 trade situation report. In general, due to Asian production growth, especially in China, global yarn production in the second quarter of 2011 increased compared to the previous quarter. In addition, Asian and South American fabric production increased, European and North American production declined, and global fabric production increased.

It is worth noting that the traditional Chinese production in the previous quarter was relatively low, as the number of working days decreased during the Chinese New Year holidays. Global yarn production increased compared to the previous year due to the increase in Asian production and North American production. Although production in South America and Europe decreased, global fabric production decreased in all regions except South America.

In the second quarter of 2011, global yarn inventory soared from the previous quarter, especially the increase in inventories in South America and Asia, while there was little change in European and North American stocks. Yarn stocks soared year-on-year, especially in Asia and South America. Inventories of North American and South American fabrics also increased in the second quarter of 2011 from the previous quarter, while Europe and Asia slightly decreased.

On a year-on-year basis, fabric inventory in North and South America soared, but Europe and Asia declined slightly. Compared with the previous quarter and the second quarter of 2010, the global yarn and fabric orders declined in Europe and Brazil.

In most countries, yarn and fabric production are expected to decline or remain unchanged in the third quarter of 2011. Yarn and fabric production are expected to improve in the fourth quarter, and production in most countries may increase or remain unchanged.

Compared with the previous quarter, world yarn production in the second quarter of 2011 increased by 12.1%. Although only Asia grew by 13.9%, Other regions have fallen (South America - 7.3%, Europe - 6.5%, North America - 3.1%). As Asia and North America increased by 1.8% and 0.4% respectively, Europe (-8.3%) and South America (-16.3%) decreased, so global yarn production increased slightly by 1.0%.

Compared with the previous quarter, global fabric production increased by 4.4% in the second quarter of 2011. Asian fabric production increased by 5.1%, South America increased by 3.6%, but Europe and North America (-1.3% and -0.4% respectively) fell. Compared to the second quarter of last year, global fabric production fell by -6.0%. From all regions, only South America grew by 7.7%, while North American, Asian and European fabric production fell by -8.8%, -7.3% and -3.4%, respectively.

Compared with the previous quarter, global yarn inventory soared by 16.4% in the second quarter of 2011. South America and Asia soared by 39.9% and 21.8%, respectively, but Europe and North America did not change substantially. From a year-on-year perspective, global yarn inventory increased by 21.2% year-on-year. In South America and Asia in particular, yarn inventory soared by 82.8% and 26.1%, respectively, but Europe and North America remained flat.

In the second quarter of 2011, global fabric stocks increased by 8.1% from the previous quarter. South and North America increased by 56.8% and 9.2% respectively, but Asia (-3.5%) and Europe (-0.6%) declined. Compared to the second quarter of last year, global fabric inventory increased by 8.1%. South America increased 44.6%, North America increased 12.9%, but Asia and Europe fell -1.6% -0.4%.

Compared with the previous quarter, in the second quarter of 2011, European orders for yarns and fabrics fell by -0.4% and -1.2% respectively; Brazil dropped by -30.4% and -10.5% respectively. From a year-over-year perspective, European orders for yarn and fabrics did not change, but Brazil decreased by -40.0% and -18.7% respectively.
