Students in the playground to the Warring States era bronze dagger

On the afternoon of November 12th, the students of the No. 9 Middle School in Siping City picked up a suspected bronze dagger in the playground that had just been filled. According to experts from the cultural relics management department of Siping City, this is considered to be a bronze dagger in the Warring States Period. It has a history of more than 2,000 years. The relevant departments have decided to reward the teachers and students of the school and prepare to investigate and survey the first unearthed site of the bronze dagger. Experts say that the short sword is in the Warring States period.

According to Qi Chengjun, director of the Cultural Relics Management Office of Siping City, at 16 o'clock on the 12th, Siping City Wenguang New Bureau received a clue from the mayor's public telephone call: On the afternoon of the same day, the students of the No. 9 Middle School of Siping City were just finished filling up. On the playground, a suspected bronze dagger was found, and the student handed it over to Chen Zhibo, director of the school's political and religious office. Considering that this may be a cultural relic, Chen Zhibo called the mayor publicly and asked them to inform the cultural relics management department of this clue.

Wu Dongguang, deputy director of the Wenping New Bureau of Siping City, immediately led the staff of the Cultural Relics Management Office of Siping City to the No. 9 Middle School of Siping City. According to the expert's on-site argument, the short sword is indeed a bronze sword. The sword is missing and the blade is slightly damaged. The blade is 35 cm long, 5 cm wide and 3.5 cm long. The blade is slender, straight blade and columnar ridge. The central ridge line and the lateral line are distinct, and the section is hexagonal column-shaped. There is a blood trough on each side of the ridge, and the tip is concave and concave, and the leaf tail is closed. Experts believe that from the sword-shaped blade-shaped sword body, it should be the bronze short sword of the Warring States period in the late Bronze Age. It has a history of more than 2,000 years.

According to expert investigations, the place where the bronze dagger was discovered was in the playground layer that had just been filled and the soil layer had no other objects. Therefore, it was judged that the first land point was not the school campus, but should It is the place where the ground is taken from the playground. However, because the landfill used in the previous playground was taken from multiple places, the school did not know where the dagger was filled.

Experts say that this short sword is the first bronze dagger artifact unearthed in Siping City. The same type of cultural relics unearthed by Siping last time was in 1983, when the land was at the auspicious plaque of Yuanji Village, Xiushui Township, Shuangliao City. When the bronze dagger was unearthed, the sword head, the blade and the hilt were preserved, and the casting time was also identified as the late Bronze Age, the Warring States Period.

May be the funerary of the generals of Yan State

"According to historical data, this bronze dagger was not a weapon that ordinary soldiers could use at the time, but it should be a sword of a senior general. Its main role is not to fight, but more to be a symbol of self-defense and identity. After that, the sword will become its funerary object.” Qi Chengjun said that during the Warring States period, Siping was in the territory of Yan State. This bronze dagger may be a funerary of a military general of Yan State, and its first unearthed site nearby. It is likely that there will be tombs of the corresponding period. Previously, the cultural relics management department had discovered the tomb of Shijie in the eastern mountainous areas of Siping (Mengjialing, Shijiapu, Shanmen, Yehe, etc.). It is not ruled out that this bronze dagger is related to these tombs. This type of cultural relics unearthed in Siping City provides an important physical illustration for the study of the history of Siping. The cultural relics management department of Siping City will also search for and survey the first unearthed site of the bronze dagger.

Wu Dongguang said that according to the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Cultural Relics", all organs, organizations and individuals have the obligation to protect national cultural relics. If the cultural relics are found to be reported or turned over in time to protect the cultural relics, the state shall give appropriate spiritual encouragement or material rewards. The practice of contacting the government departments after discovering suspected cultural relics in Jiuzhong teachers and students can effectively prevent the loss of cultural relics and is conducive to the protection of cultural relics. The Siping City Wenguang New Bureau will give relevant personnel a certain material reward. Since there is no standard for awards, the Siping City Wenguang New Bureau will carefully study the specific award amount before issuing it.
